VEG INFO IS NEW KAZAKHSTAN WEB-SERVICE: SPACE MONITORING OF VEGETATION COVER STATE
A pilot version of the information-analytical web-service VEG INFO put into operation in the JSC "National Center of Space Research and Technologies" Kazkosmos. This service was developed by Kazakhstan scientists and specialists in the direction of Earth remote sensing within the grant of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan (grant No.0089 / GF4 of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan "To develop an information technology for monitoring and forecast of droughts based on long-term series of remote sensing data of the territory of Kazakhstan").
VEG INFO is an information service for monitoring of the vegetation cover state of the Republic of Kazakhstan, for assessment of its seasonal and long-term changes at the level of the administrative oblasts and regions of Kazakhstan. The main task of the service is to provide the possibility of monitoring of the vegetation current state in the territory (oblast, district, array of agrycultural fields) in which specialists are interested for on the basis of satellite information.

The pilot version of the service provides information on the vegetation state for the 2012 and 2015-2017 seasons (from April to September), as well as on inter-seasonal changes in the vegetation cover of separate districts in the Akmola oblast (Akkolsky and Zhaksinsky) and Kostanay oblast (Amangeldinsky and Kamystinsky).
For Kazakhstan, with its vast territory and large areas of agricultural land, the use of satellite technology is very important. A new information web-service can be useful for state structures (Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, heads of the agricultural sector of various levels) and directly to agricultural producers, farmers, landowners. Insurance companies, universities, training specialists in directions of remote sensing, agriculture will be interested in similar information.
